Today, we want to talk about the vision for SpiderDAO and our goals for the next couple of months.
In the true spirit of crypto, we will bring unparalleled online privacy to the internet, through the world’s first hardware DAO and fully autonomous decentralized VPN. We believe in the “Internet of Value” concept, the idea that value on the internet should be exchanged as freely and easily as information. In our case, users should be able to effortlessly monetize their excess bandwidth. That will be possible through the SpiderMarket, creating passive income opportunities for anyone with an internet connection.
Our Vision
Why did we create SpiderDAO? Simple! We believe in online privacy.
Every day, we generate an enormous amount of data, most of it available to the highest bidder. In fact, in 2020, each one of us generates 1.7 MB of data per second. This is just the beginning. Research by the World Economic Forum estimates that we will produce more data in the next three years than we did over the previous decade. The data we produce is extremely valuable, and a large part of the business model of behemoths such as Facebook and Google is to harvest this data for monetization. There is not much we can do to change these company’s business models, but what we can do is to provide unparalleled online privacy to our users.
VPNs are a tool that empowers users to protect their anonymity and data while interacting with the Internet. However, traditional VPNs are managed by the company behind the VPN. Users are trusting these entities to adhere to promises like non-logging policies and guaranteed privacy. We believe that this current situation warrants improvement and this potential for improvement lies within the structure of the VPN and the entity that manages it.
A Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) structure is best suited to deliver on our vision of a better VPN in a transparent, fair, and inclusive fashion. Unfortunately, the existing design of most DAOs has numerous flaws and vulnerabilities. This is why the first step to fulfilling our vision is to build the world’s first hardware-enabled DAO.
At the end of this process stands a genuinely decentralized VPN network managed and powered by you, the community.
Finishing 2020 on a High Note: Liquidity Mining Audit and SPDR Token Launch
On the product side, we are working closely with Certik on the audit of our staking and liquidity mining contracts. The safety and security of our contracts is of paramount importance. Once the audit is complete, we will be ready to launch the liquidity mining program and educate our community about the innovative and community orientated concept of Liquidity as Utility (LAU).
Our novel distribution mechanism will offer very competitive APY for early token holders supported by deep secondary market liquidity. We can also confirm that we are on track when it comes to the SPDR Token launch which will still happen in Q4 2020.
Over the coming weeks, we will be announcing several exciting partnerships to expand on the synergies the hardware DAO model offers. For the time being, our focus is on working closely with companies and projects that can benefit from implementing our hardware in their governance systems.
A big part of our success is the community. To spread our message and educate people about SpiderDAO, we will be participating in a wide range of AMAs. We are also looking into holding a Telegram event in December. Join our channel to stay up to date on these developments.
Update on free SpiderConnect router for Private Sale participants
As we mentioned previously, people who contributed more than $2,000 during the private sale will receive a free SpiderConnect router (subject to availability). We will soon roll out a claim system with eligible participants being able to claim their routers using a coupon code system on our website. We are excited for our participants to turn into the first members of the DAO.
